The Greater Spokane Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America is affiliated with the national Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) organization.
We are 1 of more than 100 US-based chapters comprising more than 22,000 public relations and communications professionals committed to excellence and ethics.
PRSA is organized into chapters and districts, giving members the opportunity to become involved, network with an expanding circle of colleagues and contacts, exchange knowledge, earn recognition, advocate for PR, learn about business development and job opportunities, and step into leadership positions.
PRSA also offers professional interest sections that span the array of practice areas and industries. Designed to focus on issues, trends and research, sections offer insider industry information, programs and networking events that keep you connected with your peers and on top of the latest public relations best practices.

One of the most valued benefits of PRSA membership is the opportunity for professional development. In addition to attending workshops and teleconferences, PRSA members with at least five years of professional experience may pursue an internationally-recognized public relations credential, the APR.
The Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential is the mark of distinction for public relations professionals. Accredited practitioners demonstrate their commitment to the profession and to its ethical practice, and are selected based on broad knowledge, strategic perspective and sound professional judgment.
The Public Relations Society of America is one of nine professional organizations participating nationally in the Accreditation program through the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB). The program consists of a readiness review panel and written exam. Preparation for Accreditation is provided through a study session program offered to interested chapter members at no cost. The study session program is delivered by APRs in the Greater Spokane PRSA chapter.

Professional Resource Center
The PRSA Professional Resource Center is PRSA’s customer service and information resources group. The center provides an online gateway to organizations, individuals, products and services that are relevant to the responsibilities of public relations professionals.
PRSA produces two print publications that keep public relations professionals aware of current trends affecting the industry. Public Relations Tactics is a monthly award-winning newspaper filled with news, trends and how-to information. Members also receive a quarterly publication, The Public Relations Strategist, devoted to the issues and trends that affect senior management, especially as they relate to communication with an organization’s publics.
PRSA also hosts a variety of public relations awards. The Silver Anvil Awards, considered the “Oscars” of public relations, are given for excellence in public relations programs in 15 categories. The Bronze Anvil Awards recognize outstanding public relations tactics that are components of public relations programs. The Gold Anvil, Outstanding Educator Award and the Paul M. Lund Public Service Award are granted to public relations practitioners based on their professional achievements and significant contributions to the public relations profession.
